The skull of a child puzzles investigators
An employee of a surveying office in Neuhofen an der Ybbs, Amstetten district, made a gruesome discovery. The skeletal remains were seized by the police.
The woman found the remains of a human skull on the overgrown forest floor while working. She alerted the police, who were unable to find any other skeletal remains apart from the head.
200-year-old head of a child
Initial investigations revealed that it was a child's head, but it was probably around 200 years old. Further investigations are underway and the Salzburg Institute of Forensic Medicine has been entrusted with the autopsy.
Bones found again and again
Just two weeks ago, human remains in the form of bones were also found in the immediate vicinity of the side entrance to St. Charles Church in Vienna. The authorities are now investigating the age of the skeletons, which are also likely to be several hundred years old.
