Accident in Styria
Vehicle got stuck between two bridges
A 63-year-old car driver was injured in an accident on the B76 in Wies in Styria early on Monday morning. His vehicle got stuck between two bridges and therefore did not plunge into the water below. The recovery of the vehicle was difficult.
The man (63) had left the road in his car on the B76 (Radlpass-Straße) in the direction of Wies (Styria) and crashed into a bridge railing. The vehicle got stuck between the road bridge and the pedestrian bridge - fortunately, it has to be said, because otherwise it would have crashed into the Weiße Sulm. Nevertheless, the man was injured and had to be treated by the Red Cross.
An oncoming car driver was very lucky, as he was able to avoid the vehicle that was crossing the oncoming lane. There were no other road users on the bridge at the time of the accident.
Difficult recovery
Special care had to be taken by the emergency services during the subsequent recovery of the vehicle, as it was a hybrid vehicle. In order to be able to recover the vehicle without damaging the batteries, a heavy rescue vehicle with a crane from the Eibiswald fire department was called out. Traffic had to be stopped on both sides of the B76 for the rescue and recovery work.
