An eventful day on Tyrol's slopes also brought a hit-and-run accident on Saturday. A woman was seriously injured in the Zillertal, the driver who caused the accident simply drove off.
At around 11 a.m., a 68-year-old local skier was hit by an unknown skier on red marked piste no. 19 in the Zillertal Arena ski area in the municipality of Rohrberg. She fell and was seriously injured (femur fracture).
Second skier did not fall
The second skier did not fall and continued on his way without looking after the injured skier. The injured skier was first treated by the piste rescue team and, after receiving further emergency medical treatment, was flown by the crew of the emergency helicopter to Schwaz Hospital, where she had to be admitted as an inpatient.
Witnesses or persons with information are asked to contact the Schwaz police station (059133-7250).
