Suspects caught
Murder alert: man found dead in apartment
A violent crime occurred in a Klagenfurt apartment during an argument. A 30-year-old man was killed. The police were able to arrest two suspects. The exact circumstances of the crime are still unclear.
A huge pool of blood and a sealed apartment door only give an idea of the terrible crime that may have taken place in the apartment building in the center of Klagenfurt.
According to witnesses, there was a loud argument in Marco L.'s apartment on Thursday night. Two young men were involved in the argument. One of them is said to have suddenly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the 30-year-old five to ten times.
"The victim also had numerous cuts. This points to a defensive fight," said Markus Kitz from the Klagenfurt public prosecutor's office. A neighbor had witnessed the fight and alerted the police.
She led the investigators to the body. And while criminal investigators secured the 30-year-old's apartment so that no traces were destroyed, a manhunt was launched for the men.
Suspect had blood on his shoes
A short time later, the officers were able to find one of the two men just a few hundred meters from the crime scene: L. K. The 20-year-old not only had traces of blood on his shoes, but also had a pocket knife with him, which is likely to be the murder weapon. However, the suspect told the officers that although he had been at the scene of the crime, he had received the knife from S. G., the second man involved in the fight with Marco L.. A short time later, the handcuffs clicked for him too.
While both men were taken to the police detention center in Klagenfurt, criminal investigators took a closer look at the crime scene during the night. And yet there are still many unanswered questions: "The two men have not yet been questioned," says Kitz. The suspects were heavily intoxicated at the time of the crime and had to sleep it off first. For this reason, the public prosecutor's office has not yet been able to impose pre-trial detention.
The question of whether the crime could be linked to the drug scene to which the victim and suspects are assigned is also still unanswered. According to unofficial information, one of the two suspects has been addicted to drugs for years.
