Vienna: Teenagers fail to rob cash drawer

It looks like no professionals were at work here: On Friday evening, two masked youths attempted to rob the cash register at a Viennese snack bar and threatened the employee with a firearm - but she remained unimpressed. Their own attempts at the cash drawer also failed ... 

It must have been a terrifying moment for a sales clerk at a kebab stand in Vienna's 15th district: At around 6 p.m. - it wasn't even completely dark yet - two teenagers marched into the restaurant. Masked with scarves and a firearm in their hands.

At gunpoint, they demanded that the woman open the till and hand over the cash inside - she refused. Brave, because "we have to assume that it was a real firearm", Vienna police press spokesman Philipp Haßlinger told the "Krone" newspaper.

However, the youngsters were not about to give up: clumsily, the young robbers tried to open the cash drawer themselves - in vain. So far, however, the suspects have managed to escape. Although they came away empty-handed, immediate searches by the Vienna police have so far been unsuccessful. 

The Vienna State Criminal Police Office is investigating the two masked men at full speed. Fortunately, the employee was not injured.
