At the start of the Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in Tarvisio, Matthias Fernsebner (19) from Salzburg won bronze in the downhill!

World champion was the German Felix Rösle. In the women's downhill, Stephanie Grob from Switzerland won ahead of her compatriot Jasmin Mathis, while the Austrians Leonie Zegg and Victoria Olivier came fourth and fifth respectively.

"Certainly the biggest success of my career!"
The races were held as a sprint downhill in two runs due to the weather conditions. "I stayed focused and knew after fourth place in the first run that anything was still possible. Bronze is certainly the biggest success of my career," explained Fernsebner.
