Costumed policeman lures drug dealers out of house

In Peru, the police have been using original special operations in the fight against drug crime for some time now: In the capital Lima, a police officer in a capybara costume (see video above) lured a drug dealer out of his house with gifts.

The officer was on duty in a capybara costume the day before Valentine's Day. With this action, the police officer lured a suspect out of the house, who was then arrested.

The officers later seized a large quantity of cocaine and marijuana under a mattress and in a bag. Explanation: In Peru, gifts are delivered by people in disguise on public holidays.

Peru one of the largest cocaine producers
According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Peru is the world's second largest coca leaf grower and, according to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the second largest cocaine producer in the world. The drug is mainly smuggled to the USA and Europe.

The capybara, the largest rodent alive today, is a species of mammal from the guinea pig family. Together with the Panama capybara, it forms the genus Hydrochoerus.
