That’s why she spoke like Bridget even after filming ended

She once again became her cult figure with body, soul and accent. At a press conference, Renée Zellweger revealed that she had used the "method acting" method for the latest episode of "Bridget Jones" - "out of sheer laziness".

Before and during filming, the 55-year-old had never dropped her British working-class accent, even in her private life. The American with Swiss roots: "I just didn't want to wake up every morning and have to practise my vowels again! I just wanted to make it a habit and not have to work so hard."

It was perfect for Renée that her partner Ant Anstead is English himself and could correct her.

"Like an old friend"
For Zellweger, her starring role as the single woman "Made in England" is like a second skin after almost a quarter of a century: "Bridget feels like an old friend." What's more, her friendships with her colleagues have deepened since 2001 and her return to the set "feels like a family reunion".

Zellweger admits to becoming "very emotional" when reading the script. Because in "Mad About The Boy", Bridget has to come to terms with the death of her true love Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and her new single life and a love triangle.

Bridget Jones is "not toxic"
In recent years, her movie heroine has been criticized as a "toxic woman" due to her obsession with counting calories and chain-smoking. In an interview with The Sun, Renée hit back: "There's nothing toxic about her in my opinion. I loved Bridget Jones from the beginning and I love her more with every movie."

She even sees her movie character as someone many women can identify with: "She worries about things for which there are no reasons. Like about her weight, even though she's not overweight at all. I love that she doesn't take herself too seriously and has an irrepressible optimism."
