Apple brings streaming service TV+ to Android

Apple is bringing its video streaming service TV+ to devices with Google's Android operating system. The iPhone manufacturer is thus expanding its potential user base in competition with Netflix and the like.

Apple TV+ was launched a good five years ago and was initially available on devices from the iPhone group. An app for televisions was added later. The move now opens the door to users of Android smartphones and tablets. Apple already offers its music streaming app for Android. The subscription services were originally seen as a way to make its own devices more attractive.

Apple TV+ is trying to score points in the tough competition between streaming services with exclusively available series such as "Severance" and "Slow Horses" and films such as "Killers of the Flower Moon". With an additional subscription, you can also watch games from the American soccer league MSL, which has been upgraded with stars such as Lionel Messi. According to market researchers, Apple TV+ still has significantly fewer viewers than Netflix and Disney+.

Subscriptions to Apple TV+ will also be available in the Android app, for which Google's payment system has been integrated. The cast function, which can be used to transfer videos from a mobile device to televisions, for example, is not initially available in the first version of the app.
