Step towards an “all-purpose app”: X cooperates with Visa

Elon Musk has apparently taken one step closer to transforming his short messaging service X into an "all-purpose app". According to an insider, the tech billionaire has entered into a partnership with credit card provider Visa.

In future, X users will be able to send money directly to each other or top up their X payment account, the news agency Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

According to the source, Visa will be the first partner of the so-called "X Money" account, which customers can use to top up their wallet and link their debit cards for peer-to-peer payments. Customers will also be able to transfer money from X Money to their bank account immediately.

Musk wants to develop the short messaging service once known as Twitter into a "super app" similar to the Chinese application WeChat, which can also be used to order goods, book vacations or carry out financial transactions. "In 2025, X will connect you in ways you never thought possible. X TV, X Money, Grok and more," wrote X CEO Linda Yaccarino in a post last month.
