Drugs and sex: Labour deletes TikTok video

The British governing party Labour has apologized for publishing a video on TikTok whose lyrics were criticized. The clip shows computer-animated animals promoting the party's political goals - for example, more police presence and shorter waiting times at the National Health Service (NHS).

The video was accompanied by music. The lyrics of the song "Montagem Coral" by DJ Holanda are about cannabis and sex with a girl, British media reported.

Opposition politician Alicia Kearns from the Conservatives asked Home Secretary Yvette Cooper on the X platform whether she thought it was appropriate for her party to publish videos with song lyrics in which, among other things, men are encouraged to drug young women.

Labour apologized
The Labour Party apologized for the clip. The post picked up on a social media trend and contained a mix of two music tracks, announced Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Social Democratic Party. The translation was completely inappropriate. "We apologize and the video has now been deleted."

The governing party is currently facing massive public criticism because the authorities are accused of failing in the fight against systematic sexual violence against underage girls. In the northern English town of Rotherham, Pakistani gangs are alleged to have used drugs and alcohol to subdue and then sexually exploit female teenagers. The local authorities in the long-standing Labor stronghold were accused of inaction.
