Austria’s eagles hunt for the record-breaking old man

Austria's eagles are chasing record-breaking oldie Pius Paschke.

"It's a bit like a movie. If it's up to me, I'll go to the award ceremony every weekend," said Pius Paschke, summing up his sensational start to the season ahead of the World Cup weekend in Wisla, Poland.

Many had already written off the German ski jumper, but now the Bavarian is surprisingly wearing the yellow jersey for almost all experts after two wins this season. Now aged 34, Pius is the oldest overall leader in the Adler World Cup.

"He comes over the stem with much more feeling"
Tyrolean Werner Schuster, who once brought Paschke into the German World Cup team, explained the phenomenon on Eurosport: "He comes over the stem with much more feeling than before. That's why he doesn't cut off his trajectory."

However, Paschke must not allow himself to slip up in the yellow jersey. Austria's eagles are chasing him in the overall World Cup with a whole armada: Stefan Kraft (2nd), Jan Hörl (3rd), Daniel Tschofenig (4th) and Max Ortner (6th).

Daniel Tschofenig kept a clear view in yesterday's snowstorm. The Carinthian won the qualifier for the first Wisla competition.
