Scam with Bitcoins: Tyrolean man 10,000 euros poorer

An Innsbruck man (42) was taken in by an internet fraudster and lost almost 10,000 euros as a result. The crook had persuaded the man to install an app to secure his crypto coins. As a result, the digital savings were transferred to an unknown account.

According to the police, the 42-year-old, who has a cryptocurrency account, received a text message from the supposed provider on November 28. However, a fraudster was behind it. "The message contained a warning and a telephone number," said the investigators.

The Tyrolean dialed the number and reached "an unknown male person" who engaged him in a 20-minute conversation.

The perpetrator called on the 42-year-old to act immediately due to alleged problems in order to secure his deposits.
