Hirscher angry: “I’m a bit out of place”

Nothing to gain for the two World Cup returnees Marcel Hirscher and Lucas Braathen. Both the Brazilian and the Dutchman had to concede defeat on the difficult slalom course in Gurgl on Sunday, with both of them threading in the first run. "I'm a bit out of place like that - it's no fun," Hirscher vented his frustration in the subsequent ORF interview.

Braathen struggled with the tight course from the very first turn, only finding his rhythm late on before the hairpin proved to be his undoing.

Three skiers later, Hirscher's performance in Gurgl also came to a swift end. The Salzburg-born skier's run lasted just 23 seconds, and his working day also ended with a single thread.

"I've rarely experienced that"
"I'm angry, this is a continuation of Levi. I'm a bit out of place like this - it's not fun," said the eight-time overall World Cup winner, taking a hard look at himself. Although he was able to learn lessons from the first races, the results were not what he had hoped for: "This is an experience. I've rarely experienced being so off the mark."

Hirscher was still satisfied with the first few meters, but soon began to stumble: "Then I was a passenger, something was wrong." Although the 35-year-old enjoys being at the start, Hirscher knows that he needs to go a little further in the coming races.
