Thieves on building sites: Copper and appliances in their sights

Unknown burglars were up to mischief on construction sites in the Tyrolean Außerfern and Unterland regions at the beginning of this week: The perpetrators were mainly after expensive machinery and equipment. But they also stole a long copper cable, which they used to put a construction crane out of action.

In the night from Monday to Tuesday, unknown perpetrators struck in Lermoos in the district of Reutte. They gained access to a construction site and stole a wide variety of equipment - from hammer drills and angle grinders to wet/dry vacuum cleaners.

The crooks also took batteries and chargers. The damage cannot yet be quantified, but is likely to be considerable, according to the police.

Copper cable stolen, crane damaged
On the same night, thieves were also active on a construction site in Rattenberg (Kufstein district). "An approximately ten-meter-long, five-pole copper cable was cut from a crane and stolen. The construction crane has been out of order ever since," said the investigators.

There is a video surveillance system in the construction site area. The images are being analyzed. Further investigations are underway in this regard.

Burglaries on construction sites occur again and again in Tyrol. The damage is usually enormous. In any case, suspicious observations should be reported.
