Grenade discovered near chapel: large-scale operation

A grenade was found near a chapel. A hiker immediately raised the alarm. The area where the grenade was found was cordoned off. 

An unusual discovery was made on Sunday morning by a hiker on the footpath to the "Maria Trost" chapel in Lienz. The man immediately raised the alarm and informed the police. "The war relic was found about 20 meters below the chapel," said the emergency services, who immediately cordoned off the site and called in the Federal Ministry's defusing service.

However, specialists were able to give the all-clear in the afternoon. "The grenade was without explosives." The relic was seized. Further investigations will follow.
