Wölfnitz residents can drink tap water again

Drinking water in Klagenfurt-Wölfnitz has now been released again. In the red districts, the drinking water from the tap is still to be boiled.(Bild: STW)

The drinking water in Klagenfurt has been contaminated with faecal bacteria since at least last Wednesday. Following the flushing of the water supply network and intensive sampling, the first district, Wölfnitz, was released again on Thursday, according to the municipal health authority.

For the rest of the city of Klagenfurt, the recommendation to boil tap water before consumption continues to apply for the time being.

Attention! 
As pipes cross in the area around Wölfnitz, some companies are not yet allowed to consume tap water. Stadtwerke Klagenfurt provides a detailed breakdown on its website of which residential areas are specifically free of contamination and where the precautionary warning from the health authorities remains in place.

With the flushing of the water supply network towards the west, further parts of the city where the bacteria levels were lowest to begin with are now being successively tested and released if the results are negative.
