Lewis Hamilton: “Nothing seems to be working!”

Once eleventh, once twelfth, around a second slower than the fastest of the day - the first two practice sessions for the Singapore Grand Prix proved to be a source of real frustration for record world champion Lewis Hamilton!

The Briton admitted in the evening that Mercedes was not getting anywhere in terms of set-up and warned: "At the moment, it doesn't look like we're going to get into the third qualifying phase on Saturday!"

They have "tried everything possible in terms of set-up, but nothing seems to work" - qualifying will therefore be a big challenge.

"I don't quite know what to do with the car!"
His team-mate George Russel and he would give it their all - only to find themselves a second behind at the end of a lap.

"We're really a bit lost at the moment and I don't really know what to do with the car," the disillusioned Mercedes star told F1 TV.

A number of changes had already been made to the cars between the first and second practice sessions - but in vain, it seems: "The car just doesn't feel as good as it did twelve months ago or in the last few races ..."
