Young moped rider was overlooked by car driver

A car driver (60) stopped his car at a junction in Lengau (Upper Austria), but may have overlooked a moped rider (16) coming from the right - resulting in a collision. The boy was seriously injured and flown to hospital.

A 60-year-old driver from the Braunau district was driving his car in the municipality of Lengau on Ehreneckerstrasse coming from Friedburg in the direction of Lengau at 12.40 p.m. on Friday. At the junction with the L 1044, he wanted to cross straight ahead in the direction of Lengau. He almost stopped his car at the intersection due to the "give way" sign and, after he could not see any cross traffic, he drove into the intersection.

Right-angled collision
He probably overlooked the 16-year-old moped driver from the Salzburg-Umgebung district who was approaching from the right, resulting in a right-angled collision at the junction. The moped crashed into the right-hand side of the car.

After receiving emergency medical treatment from the C6 rescue helicopter team, the 16-year-old was taken to hospital in Salzburg with undetermined injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.
