The heavy combination came to rest on the hard shoulder

Due to a serious traffic accident, the Innkreisautobahn A 8 between the Ort im Innkreis and Suben exits in Upper Austria was closed for several hours. Two Slovakians were injured when a truck hit the verge and overturned. One of them had to be flown to hospital by helicopter.  

An early morning alarm for the Innviertel emergency services: at 6.34 a.m. on the Innkreisautobahn A8 between the Ort im Innkreis and Suben exits, an articulated lorry left the road on the right, hit an embankment and overturned as a result. The two Slovakian occupants (37, 45) were injured.

Serious injuries
It quickly became clear at the scene that the 45-year-old front passenger had suffered extremely serious injuries. He was trapped between the steering wheel and windshield and had to be flown by helicopter to the hospital in Ried. The younger driver was also transported away with serious injuries.

A8 closed for three hours
The highway in the direction of Germany was closed for around three hours during the rescue and clean-up work, causing major delays. The Ort im Innkreis and Antiesenhofen fire departments rescued the two accident victims, and the Red Cross and police were also on the scene.
