Flachgau public transport association announces new board

With around 68,000 inhabitants and around 8 million passengers, the Flachgau II local public transport association represents 14 municipalities in the lake district. There is now a new board with the mayor of Berndorf as chairman. 

Mayor Johann Stemeseder from Berndorf is the new chairman of the ÖPNV Flachgau II association based in Seeham. Stemeseder was already 1st Deputy Chairman from 2019 to 2024. He will now be supported by Mayor Tanja Kreer from Straßwalchen and Mayor Michael Prantner from Elixhausen. 

The Gemeindeverband Öffentlicher Personennahverkehr Flachgau II represents 14 municipalities in Flachgau: Bergheim, Berndorf, Elixhausen, Eugendorf, Hallwang, Henndorf, Köstendorf, Mattsee, Neumarkt, Obertrum, Schleedorf, Seeham, Seekirchen and Straßwalchen.

"Our aim is to increase the quality of life in Flachgau, make it more attractive and strengthen the business location through a well-functioning, sustainable and climate-friendly public transport service," says Stemeseder.

Alternatives to the car
According to the association: "More frequent services, extended weekend timetables and better connections can motivate even more people to switch to public transport, buses and trains. But alternative sharing systems, demand-oriented micro public transport or barrier-free and safe infrastructure for walking and cycling can also become a real alternative to the car."
