On the Tauern highway

Return traffic caused hours of delays on the Tauern highway on Saturday. A long tailback formed in front of the block clearance.

There was a traffic jam of more than 16 kilometers in front of the tunnel construction site on the Tauern freeway in Pongau on Saturday. In constant rain, holidaymakers returning from the south were queuing in front of the block clearance at Pfarrwerfen almost all the way back to Eben. At times, the time lost heading north was more than three hours.

There were also delays on the alternative routes. There were also delays in the southbound direction at Golling. However, the delay there was significantly less at just under half an hour.
