Drugged driver simply drove off after a collision

This is going to be expensive: a driver who was later found to be impaired by drugs drove off after an accident in Natters. But that was not the only traffic offense.

At around 8.30 a.m. on Friday, Mutters police received a report that a car had hit another car on Herrenweg in Natters and the driver had fled with the vehicle.

Manhunt initiated
After an immediate manhunt, the wanted car was stopped and checked in Götzens by a patrol from the Axams police station. A breathalyzer test on the driver, a 36-year-old German, was negative.

Alcohol test negative, but drugs were involved
On suspicion of being impaired by narcotics, the man was presented to the district doctor to check his fitness to drive. The doctor determined that he was unfit to drive due to the consumption of medication and narcotics. The car used by the man was not licensed to drive. Further investigations and charges against the driver will follow.
