Police escort for pony after exploratory tour

The next animal call-out has been made by officers in the spa town of Baden: An escaped pony kept the town police busy. The animal was caught and given hay and carrots.

"Watch out, pony on the road" was a not-so-common message from the Baden municipal police. The animal had escaped unnoticed from its home on Römerberg on Thursday night and gone on an exploratory tour. After being alerted at around 4.30 a.m., the police immediately set out on the trail of the four-legged friend.

After around an hour, the fugitive pony was spotted on the parking deck of the Römertherme. An employee of the municipal gardening department even managed to secure it with a belt converted into a collar until the officers arrived.

The pony was then escorted to the municipal police garage where it was given hay and carrots until the owner from Gumpoldskirchen arrived. By now, people in Baden are used to a lot when it comes to animal interventions.

Only recently, escaped goats were escorted home by the police. "But the pony alert is a highlight and will go down in the history of the municipal police", smiles Deputy Commander Sebastian Stockbauer.
