This is how often the ÖAMTC took off last year

Thanks to perfectly coordinated teamwork with the Red Cross and mountain rescue services, the ÖAMTC is grateful for the qualified help from the air, which resulted in 21,934 take-offs throughout Austria in 2022. The Christophorus 11 stationed in Klagenfurt and the Alpin 1 emergency helicopter based in Patergassen, which is responsible for the Nock region, recorded high figures.

In summary, ÖAMTC Air Rescue can look back on another record number of missions in 2022. In contrast to 2021, the emergency helicopters took off 21,934 times - an increase of 1,997 missions. "This makes 2022 the busiest year ever for our crews," says Trefanitz.

Christophorus 11 Klagenfurt
The Christophorus 11 emergency helicopter was requested 1,215 times to provide rapid assistance from the air. This high number shows that the primary objective is to bring highly qualified emergency doctors and flight rescuers as well as state-of-the-art technology to the scene of the emergency as quickly as possible in order to provide comprehensive care for the patient and then fly them to the nearest hospital.

Alpine 1 Patergassen
During the winter season, but also over the years, the Alpin 1 has become an essential part of supra-regional emergency rescue. The emergency helicopter's operational area not only includes the ski resorts around the base in Patergassen, but also supports neighboring provinces. Since December 2001, when the Heli Ambulance Team (HAT) set up the Patergassen heliport, around 4,500 missions have been flown. Thanks to the strategically favorable location, it was possible to significantly improve the supply of Carinthia and its ski resorts.
