49-year-old woman murdered: Man had killing fantasies

After a 49-year-old woman was brutally murdered in Vienna-Favoriten last Sunday, further details have now emerged. The suspect, her partner (39), stated that his wife had been "looking after other men".

This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the regional court. The 39-year-old had apparently been planning to kill his partner for some time and had even confided his fantasies to a friend.

Suspect confesses to the crime
The 39-year-old fully confessed to the charges and has been in custody since Tuesday. An expert opinion commissioned by the Vienna public prosecutor's office is to clarify questions about his mental state. The public prosecutor's office is conducting a murder investigation against him.

Woman found lifeless in apartment
Following an emergency call from the 39-year-old, emergency services from the Favoriten municipal police station visited his apartment on the fifth floor of an apartment building in Columbusgasse at around 9.30 am on Sunday. They found the Austrian man and his lifeless girlfriend there and immediately called the emergency services. However, an emergency doctor was only able to determine that the woman had died.

According to police spokeswoman Julia Schick, the woman had injuries to her neck which indicated that she was not at fault. The Austrian was subsequently arrested.
