Motorcyclist parked his bike in the Tauern Tunnel

Because he said he wanted to help friends on the other side of the road with a breakdown, a German (25) turned his motorcycle around in the middle of the Tauern Tunnel on Tuesday, drove 500 meters as a wrong-way driver and then simply parked it.

That doesn't happen every day! The Sankt Michael highway police were informed of an alleged motorcycle ghost driver on Tuesday afternoon. Officers actually came across a motorcyclist in the south portal of the Tauern Tunnel on the A10 who had apparently parked his vehicle in the tunnel portal.

500 meters in the wrong direction
During questioning, it emerged that the 25-year-old had previously stopped on the Villach carriageway, turned around and driven 500 meters back to the Tauern Tunnel portal in the opposite direction and parked the motorcycle in the tunnel at the end of the emergency lane.

According to the police, he then used the narrow sidewalk to get further into the tunnel. He apparently wanted to help his friends, who had stopped in a breakdown bay with their car due to a puncture.

No one was injured and a breathalyzer test was negative. However, the man was reported for various administrative offenses.
