3 dead and one missing in accidents on Mont Blanc

Three dead alpinists and one missing person - that's the result of the weekend on Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. Two Italian climbers died on Mont Greuvetta on the Italian side of Mont Blanc after falling 200 meters. A third alpinist who was traveling with them was able to raise the alarm.

On the French side of Mont Blanc, a 34-year-old Parisian died after falling several meters. The accident occurred on the last stretch of the Mettrier slope not far from the border with Italy, as reported by the Italian media.

The alpinist was not roped up. His friend, who was traveling with him, alerted the emergency services. The body was recovered by a helicopter from the Chamonix rescue team.

Fell into ravine, not found
A mountaineer fell into a ravine on the Mont Blanc massif, below the Gonella hut. The man fell into a ravine but has not yet been rescued. There was no information about his origin for the time being.

Mont Blanc on the border between France and Italy is - according to current calculations - the highest mountain in the Alps at 4805 meters. Both France and Italy have a share of the mountain, although the exact border has long been disputed.
