Driver (17) disregards red light: four injured

A 17-year-old female driver caused a serious traffic accident in Linz on Saturday evening. The young woman disregarded a red light, collided with a bus, which then crashed into another car. Four people - including two children - were injured in the accident.

At 9.20 pm on Saturday, a serious traffic accident occurred at the junction of Dinghoferstraße and Blumauerstraße. According to witnesses, a 17-year-old female driver from Linz was driving towards the city center on Blumauerstraße and disregarded the red light at the intersection. At the same time, a Linz Linien bus was driving towards the city center on Dinghoferstraße, causing a collision at the intersection.

People on the bus uninjured
The 60-year-old bus driver from Leonding tried to swerve to the left and collided with a car on his left. This car was driven by a 46-year-old woman from Niederwaldkirchen, who also wanted to cross the intersection in a straight line. Her two sons, aged five and eight, were also in the vehicle.

There were eight people on the bus, all of whom were initially uninjured. The two female drivers and the two children were taken by ambulance to the UKH with undetermined injuries.

Large area cordoned off
A traffic light was also severely damaged in the accident. The scene of the accident was cordoned off on a large scale with road closures in the area of Dinghoferstraße, Blumauerstraße and Friedhofstraße. The area was closed to all traffic for approximately one hour.
