Injured after scuffle on Vienna’s Reumannplatz

On Thursday evening there was a violent altercation between several men on Vienna's Reumannplatz. The patrol officers were alerted to loud screams.

The officers noticed a 26-year-old man with traces of blood on his neck and hand. According to his own statements, he had sustained the injuries while playing soccer. Shortly afterwards, the patrol officers continued their duties and the men disappeared in the direction of the subway station.

Screams again in the subway station
Suddenly, the officers heard loud screams again. This time from the Reumannplatz subway station. When the officers rushed into the station, they again encountered the 26-year-old and a second young man (24).

No trace of the murder weapon
In the course of the investigation, it emerged that the two had already attacked each other in the park beforehand and that the 26-year-old had allegedly attacked and slightly injured his opponent with a sharp object, according to the police. The police were unable to recover a weapon from the 26-year-old. He was provisionally arrested on suspicion of intentional grievous bodily harm.
