Drug driver fled from police checkpoint

A spectacular chase took place in Dornbirn on Saturday night. A drug driver had tried to evade a police check - and only made things worse.

At around 1.30 a.m., officers from the Dornbirn police station carried out speed measurements on Lustenauer Straße. However, a driver living in Dornbirn was obviously not very interested in being checked. As soon as he spotted the police officers, he turned his car around and sped off in the opposite direction.

In the course of a wild chase, the man sped through Dornbirn at excessive speed, ignoring a red traffic light among other things. The escape finally ended in Trockenturmweg.

In the course of further investigations, it quickly became clear why the 24-year-old wanted to evade a check: On the one hand, he was under the influence of drugs, and on the other, he did not have a driver's license. In addition, small amounts of cocaine and a baton were seized in the vehicle.

The driver will be reported to the Dornbirn district authority and the Feldkirch public prosecutor's office for several criminal and administrative offenses. He was also carrying a 17-year-old teenager in the car - he was also under the influence of drugs and was therefore reported to the Feldkirch public prosecutor's office for an offense under the Narcotics Act.
