Unbelievable act in Berlin: A 21-month-old girl was allegedly thrown out of the third floor of an apartment building in a cat carrier on Monday - presumably by her own mother, who was arrested. Passers-by found the whimpering toddler. The homicide squad is now investigating.

After the child was found, the rescue chain was immediately set in motion. The girl was treated on the spot and then taken to hospital. Despite the fall from a height of around 11 meters, the child's life is not in danger, but according to the "Bild" newspaper, the little girl's arms and legs are said to be broken.

The homicide squad has taken over the investigation. According to media reports, the child's mother is still being questioned, but the woman has not yet made any statements.

She and another child were found in the apartment on the third floor. The second child is now in the care of the youth welfare office.
