Woman dies during rescue and police operation

A 35-year-old woman died in Lustenau in the early hours of Saturday evening during a rescue and police operation. Neighbors had previously called the emergency services out of concern for the apparently confused woman. The Federal Bureau for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption has already begun investigating the exact circumstances of the tragedy.

It is a case in which many questions remain unanswered. This much is known: On Saturday evening, neighbors of the 35-year-old woman called the emergency services out of concern that she might come to harm in her apparently confused state. Several police officers were also called in to assist. Once on the scene, the emergency services found a completely distraught woman; a medical emergency could not be ruled out.

As there was a risk of the woman injuring herself or falling, she was restrained, the police said. In the course of this measure, the 35-year-old suddenly stopped showing signs of life and died on the spot.

The Feldkirch public prosecutor's office has already ordered an autopsy. As is usual in such cases, the investigation into the exact circumstances of the operation is being carried out by officials from the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK).
