Salzburg man drowned in Lake Obertrum

A tragic swimming accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Lake Obertrum in Salzburg's Flachgau region: a local man (79) drowned. The emergency services tried everything to save his life.

The wife had raised the alarm at around 3 pm when she noticed the emergency situation. The divers from Seeham Water Rescue quickly retrieved the unconscious man from the bottom of Lake Obertrum and lifted him into a lifeboat. Resuscitation began in the lifeboat and the emergency doctor took over later on the lake shore.

Despite all efforts, the man died on the spot, according to the water rescue team. The teams from the Seeham and Mattsee water rescue bases as well as the fire department and Mattsee Red Cross, emergency helicopter and police were deployed.

According to the police, the victim was a 79-year-old local man.
