Beach U22 European Championships

That was strong – into the quarter-finals with class!

They are U21 runners-up at the World Championships and are determined to score a major coup at the U22 European Championships after finishing fourth last year - at least the group stage in Termal Yalova (Turkey) was no problem for Austria's young beach volleyball stars Tim Berger and Timo Hammarberg. There were three victories.

Tim Berger, who graduated from AHS Vienna West on Wednesday, and Timo Hammarberg got off to a perfect start at the U22 European Championships. In their first match against Andrija Tomic/Aleksa Mandic from Serbia they did not show any weakness - 21:10, 21:17. On Friday they beat Radu Muresan/Iannis Alb from Romania 21:14, 21:8 and Belgium's Kyan Vercauteren/Daan Hendrikx 21:14, 24:22.

It goes without saying that junior team manager Robert Nowotny was also satisfied with the Vienna-NÖ duo. "The boys didn't concede a set in the group stage and are confidently through to the round of 16." They continue there on Saturday. Tim and Timo's goal at the European Championships is clear: they want to go for the gold medal.

Magdalena Rabitsch/Anja Trailovic initially scored two wins in the girls' singles. On Friday, however, they lost to Marta Carro/Adriana Serrano from Spain 17:21, 18:21 and therefore have to go through to the intermediate round.
