Blanket set alight – local man ends up in hospital

Dangerous operation for the St. Johann in Tirol fire department on Friday evening! A 19-year-old Tyrolean wanted to demonstrate the fire resistance of a comforter with two friends and set fire to it. Not only the blanket, but also the bed caught fire. A 21-year-old ended up in hospital.

The 20-year-old resident had a visit from two friends (19 and 21 years old) on Friday. At around 19.30, the 19-year-old wanted to test the flammability of a woollen blanket with a lighter. This was hanging over the edge of the bed.

Not only the blanket but also the bed caught fire. The 21-year-old local man was able to successfully fight the fire with a fire extinguisher, but had to be taken to the St. Johann in Tirol district hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Neighbor raised the alarm
A neighbor had seen the fire from his balcony and alerted the emergency services. The fire department carried out extinguishing work and ventilated the house. In addition to the 44 firefighters, the emergency services and the police were also deployed.
