Fingers severed while working with a circular saw

A serious accident at work occurred on Sunday morning in a hospitality business in Riezlern (Kleinwalsertal). A 42-year-old janitor caught the index finger of his left hand in a circular saw. It was completely severed.  

The 42-year-old, who was carrying out repair work on Whit Sunday, did not have a particularly attentive guardian angel. The experienced and self-employed janitor was busy with tasks for which he needed the circular saw, among other things, at around 9.45 am. According to the police, he probably got caught in the rotating circular saw blade with the index finger of his left hand due to carelessness.

Flown to the hospital in Kempten
The left index finger was completely severed in the area of the second phalanx. After initial treatment by the rescue service, the injured man was flown by the emergency helicopter "Christopherus 8" to the accident hospital in Kempten for further treatment. The police determined that the accident at work was not the fault of a third party.
