Two-year-old falls into wood chip bunker

During family celebrations on Saturday, a two-year-old girl fell 2.7 meters into a wood chip bunker at a wine tavern in Leutschach an der Weinstraße in southern Styria.

The accident happened while the little girl was playing with other children on a terrace under which the bunker is located. According to the police, she stepped on an iron lid, which suddenly turned downwards. As a result, the girl fell about 2.7 meters and injured herself.

She was rescued by relatives and the Red Cross and then flown to hospital by the C 12 rescue helicopter. The police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
