During storm in Graz

Tree fell onto the road in front of driver

During a storm, a tree fell onto Bergmanngasse in Graz on Friday. A driver crashed into it despite braking hard.

It stormed violently in Graz at around 1 pm. A storm was making its way across the city. Meanwhile, a 47-year-old man was driving his car in Bergmanngasse with his 40-year-old companion in the passenger seat.

Suddenly, a tree fell from a private property onto the road directly in front of them as they were crossing Kreuzgasse. Although he immediately slammed on the brakes, he crashed into the tree. Fortunately, the two occupants were unharmed, but the car, a fence and an Energie Steiermark electricity box were badly damaged or destroyed. 

The professional fire department set out to clear away the tree, which according to the police was rotten on the inside at the end of the trunk.
