Mountain biker (18) hit his head against a tree

On Friday evening, a mountain biker hit his head against a fallen tree on the Bisamberg near Hagenbrunn in the district of Korneuburg (Lower Austria) and fell. The operation proved difficult for the rescuers.

The accident occurred on the Bisamberg at around 7.30 pm. An 18-year-old man hit his head against a tree while mountain biking and fell. A friend immediately alerted the emergency services and transmitted the GPS data. 

Accident in the middle of the forest
However, the rescue team's mission turned out to be more difficult than expected. The accident site was in the middle of the forest. After a long walk, the rescuers finally reached the injured man and treated the 18-year-old with a couple who happened to be there. The mountain biker was really lucky: the couple were a trauma surgeon and an emergency paramedic from Baden.

The emergency helicopter landed in a meadow around one kilometer away from the accident site. With the help of the fire department, the injured man was carried through the rough terrain to the helicopter, which flew him to hospital.
