Accident involving minibuses triggers rescue operation

Serious traffic accident on Saturday morning in Salzburg: between Radstadt and Mandling, two vans collided head-on on the Ennstal road. The two passengers died.

The two minibuses crashed into each other at around 8 o'clock in the morning. The collision initially claimed one life - for the 29-year-old co-driver from the district of Schärding in Upper Austria, all help came too late.

Three occupants suffered serious injuries, one of whom - the co-driver of the other van - was resuscitated at the scene, but the Romanian then died during the flight to hospital. 

The Red Cross was deployed with two ambulances and an emergency ambulance. Two rescue helicopters were also alerted. 

The Radstadt and Mandling fire departments were responsible for rescuing and securing the accident site. The accident victims had to be freed from the vehicles using heavy equipment.
