Tractor and truck burn down in Leibnitz
A tractor fire broke out on a company site in Großklein in the Leibnitz district in the early hours of the holiday. The flames spread to a truck and two trailers. No one was injured.
Shortly after 2.30 a.m., a neighbor on the adjacent company premises noticed a tractor on fire after being woken up by a loud explosion. The fire spread to truck trailers parked next to it and subsequently to a truck. Both vehicles were completely destroyed and the hydraulic and brake lines of the trailers were damaged.
The Großklein and Heimschuh fire departments were able to extinguish the fire at around 3.25 am. A total of 40 firefighters and seven vehicles were deployed.
According to investigations so far, the tractor's battery may have ignited due to a technical defect and started the fire. The damage is likely to amount to several hundred thousand euros.
