Home invasion of former provincial councillor: indictment ready

A good ten months after the home invasion on July 17, 2023 of the former provincial councillor and entrepreneur Josef Fill and his family in Gurten (Upper Austria), the indictment against three of the suspects has been completed. However, investigators believe that there could be one or two more.

The two main suspects, a North Macedonian (44) and a German-Kazakh (43), will have to answer for the crime of aggravated robbery. The North Macedonian has nine relevant previous convictions and is also under investigation in Germany for aggravated robbery. His alleged German-Kazakh accomplice also has eleven previous convictions in his home country.

Post-traumatic stress disorder
Josef Fill suffered a broken metacarpal bone and his wife and daughter were diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the public prosecutor's office in Ried im Innkreis.

The third defendant, a 28-year-old man from the Innviertel region, is said to have been the designated perpetrator as a tipster, he is said to have virtually commissioned the home invasion.

The trial date has not yet been set, but a trial is expected before the summer. The two main perpetrators are facing between five and 15 years in prison.
