Chickens caused racing cyclist to fall

Chickens take every opportunity to get new treats on new terrain. They don't even mind crossing a road. However, one cyclist is now injured because of the animals unexpectedly crossing the road. 

At around 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, a 60-year-old man was riding his racing bike downhill at around 60 km/h on the L 146 Grutschen country road in the Granitz Valley when chickens ran onto the road near a farm. The cyclist could no longer avoid them and was unable to brake in time. He ran over a chicken, crashed and lay injured on the verge.

Another road user alerted the emergency services. The 60-year-old was taken to Wolfsberg Regional Hospital.
