Internal FPÖ chats about a vacancy at the Salzburg military command have emerged. The Greens criticize a possible political agreement surrounding the leadership of the military command.

A report by the news magazine "Profil" raises questions about the appointment of the Salzburg military command in 2018. According to the report, the then FPÖ leader Heinz-Christian Strache wrote on WhatsApp to his defense minister Mario Kunasek in 2019: "The ÖVP got the Salzburg military command anyway."

The Greens now want to shed light on the appointment of the military chief with a parliamentary inquiry. Anton Waldner was Salzburg's military commander from 2018 to 2023.
