Biker run over by van and killed
The still young motorcycle season has already claimed one life in Vorarlberg. Early Tuesday afternoon, a 65-year-old biker skidded after an overtaking maneuver on the L200 in the Bersbuch forest, crashed and was subsequently run over by a van. All help came too late for the man.
Early on Tuesday afternoon, a 65-year-old man was driving his motorcycle on the L200 from Andelsbuch towards Bezau when he overtook a car just before a right-hand bend. According to the police, the biker skidded and stumbled after overtaking for an unknown reason, causing him to fall without any outside influence.
Bersbuch Forest closed for hours
The man then skidded into the oncoming lane and was run over and fatally injured by an oncoming Mercedes Sprinter. The motorcycle involved in the accident and the van were seized by the police. The L200 was closed to all traffic in the Bersbucher Wald area for over three hours.
