Garage open, keys inserted, car disappeared
A 45-year-old man from Villach was careless with his car. The garage was unlocked and the key was in the ignition. The car then disappeared. However, the police were quickly able to track down the thief.
Early in the morning, the 45-year-old Villach man's car was parked in the unlocked garage. The car key was in the ignition. The car was soon gone and the man from Villach called the police at eight o'clock to report the theft. The officers quickly tracked down the perpetrator. A good half hour later, police found the car in Mittersill in Salzburg's Pinzgau region at a petrol station on the B161 Pass-Thurn road.
They arrested the driver, a 35-year-old Romanian. The man confessed to stealing the car and was subsequently released. Particularly brazen: The Romanian does not have a driver's license himself and caused a fender bender during his escape in Villach. This will result in further charges for the man.
