Tanks from the West
Russia presents “spoils” from Ukraine
The Russian government never misses an opportunity to eviscerate destroyed military equipment from Western stocks for propaganda purposes - even if they are sometimes fake images. For example, the shooting down of a tractor has been hailed as the destruction of a Leopard 2 battle tank. To mark the upcoming Victory Day, "captured" tanks and other vehicles in Ukraine are now being exhibited in Moscow.
Footage of transports to the Russian capital has been circulating on social media for days (see videos below). Russian army broadcaster Zvezda announced on Wednesday that an exhibition of around 30 types of weapons and equipment from twelve different countries will open in Moscow's "Park of Victory" on May 1.
Ukraine lost Marder infantry fighting vehicles
According to reports, the exhibition will focus on the success "against Ukrainian militants and their Western supporters".
A Marder infantry fighting vehicle from the German army has been particularly well preserved. The Russians are particularly proud of this "piece of booty".
Of the 90 infantry fighting vehicles supplied by Germany, half a dozen were lost in Ukraine. Some of them are apparently in Russian hands. In addition to these, Leopard main battle tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles from the USA will also be made available to the general public from May 1.
Tanks withdrawn from the front due to Russian drones
Praised just a year ago as the decisive weapon in the fight against the Russian occupiers, the main battle tanks soon lost their effectiveness. According to reports, Bradley tanks in particular are now being withdrawn from the front line because the constant use of Russian fighter and reconnaissance drones has simply become too dangerous for them.
