Draw against Mainz 05
FSV Mainz vs. 1. FC Köln – LIVE from 5.30 pm
Mainz 05 and Cologne shared the points on matchday 31 of the German Bundesliga. Leandro Barreiro put the home side ahead in the 29th minute before ÖFB player Florian Kainz (90+5) equalized with a penalty in stoppage time to make it 1-1. His compatriot Phillipp Mwene was shown the red card shortly afterwards.
Mainz remain 16th in the relegation places, with Cologne five points behind them in penultimate place. Three rounds are still to play. Borussia Mönchengladbach and Union Berlin had previously shared the points, which only helped both teams to a limited extent. Gladbach have a four-point cushion over Mainz, while Union are two points ahead of the relegation places.
Gladbach were without ÖFB team player Maximilian Wöber, who suffered a slight muscle fiber tear in his thigh in the 4-3 defeat at Hoffenheim last week. His compatriot Stefan Lainer was in the starting eleven against Union and played 66 minutes, while Christopher Trimmel was substituted for the Berliners in the closing stages.
Heidenheim celebrate
In the final game of the day, tenth-placed Heidenheim celebrated a 1-0 away win against relegated bottom side Darmstadt. Nikola Dovedan, who came on as a substitute in the 69th minute, scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.
