VST throws coach out
Regional league “not financially viable” for Velden
Carinthian League title contenders Velden wave goodbye to promotion to the regional league. In Völkermarkt, the longest-serving coach in the league had to leave and will be replaced by the club's U11 coach. Leader Treibach will help itself to relegation candidates Kraig in the summer. .
The regional league is also uninteresting for Velden! Marcel Kuster's team have reignited the title fight in the Carinthian league and are now just one point behind leaders Treibach. But: When it comes to promotion, they immediately wave it off. "It wouldn't be financially viable for us. We are not tycoons who can invest several 100,000 euros. As a Carinthian, you don't stand a chance against Styria and Upper Austria," sighs Velden chairman Bruno Mitterberger.
Ex-Völkermarkt coach senses conspiracy
VST Völkermarkt pulls the ripcord! After eleven games without a win and a drop to 13th place, the longest-serving soccer coach in the Carinthian league, Franz Polanz (62), had to go. "The results were no longer there, so it's understandable," Polanz sighs, but emphasizes: "On the other hand, we deliberately took the young path with many U20 players in the winter. It's clear that this will take time - but there's been a plot against me for some time!" "Co" Philipp Grilz and section manager Manfred Opetnik also had to make way for Polanz. U11 coach Miljenko Safran takes over, Mario Kuester is the new head of sport.
Kraig records one departure
Kraig, which is deep in the relegation battle, also had to make a departure. Leader Treibach has secured the services of ace Martin Lamzari (13 goals in the current season!) from next season.
